Michigan City Area

September 24th 2011

After much searching for the J. D. Marshall we finally gave up, visibility wasn't bad for the time of year however neither the depth sounder, my self, or Joseph were able to spot any items of interest. We headed to port, stopping at The Muskegon in which the cords 41°42'48.00"N 86°56'3.00"W puts you almost on top of it. With a quick look at the sonar we knew we had to be over it, tossed anchor, finding the wreck within minutes. Visibility was poor at best, penetration looked possible, but under such vis we opted to stay above. I plan to re-visit this wreck in hopes of clearer water. I did test a underwater camera i got for free, and after the film is developed the pictures will be available online.

Welcome to our website

September 22nd 2011

Welcome to North West Indiana Scuba. We are working to provide a website for local scuba divers. We plan to have dive trips, boat dive trips, and meet other divers. Northwest Indiana is full of historic wrecks, Chicago is only a short drive away by boat for even more wrecks. With places in reach such as France Park, Haigh Quarry, and many small inland lakes. We also will try to plan trips to other popular dive areas such as Galveston Bay. We love suggestions, join our forum, email us, and enjoy.
